US comedy-meets-rock and roll duo Tenacious D have announced their second and final Sydney show on their upcoming Spicy Meatball Australian tour to meet demand.
A week after the Frontier Touring pre-sale began and days after the general sale opened, Tenacious D’s first Australian tour in ten years has already seen them sell out Sydney’s ICC Theatre, the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. Meanwhile, the Brisbane and Adelaide Entertainment Centres are already down to final tickets.
The new Sydney show is now the first date on their tour – Saturday, 13 July – with tickets on sale now via the Frontier Touring website. Frontier Touring stated that no extra shows will be added to Tenacious D’s national tour.
Last week’s official tour announcement arrived just days after Frontier Touring hinted at a 2024 Tenacious D Australian tour.
The tour promoters teased a tour announcement featuring an animated meatball bounding toward a man wearing a hat. The caption, “The greatest and best band in the world...” references the band’s beloved 2006 single Tribute.
In 2023, Tenacious D premiered a pair of new songs at the Shaky Knees Festival in the US: Video Games and The Spicy Meatball Song. From May through to October 2023, Tenacious D played in venues across the US on the Spicy Meatball Tour.
