While Taylor Swift became the most awarded artist at the VMAs, Eminem became the solo male artist with the most VMAs, breaking his tie with Peter Gabriel.

Taylor Swift and Post Malone were the top nominees at this year’s Video Music Awards (VMAs), and they left with the most wins.
Swift was nominated for a massive 12 nominations, and Post Malone 11, with the Anti-Hero singer taking home seven wins and the I Had Some Help singer winning five awards. Meanwhile, Eminem broke his tie with Peter Gabriel to become the solo male artist with the most VMAs (15 awards), taking home two more awards at Wednesday’s (11 September) event: Best Hip-Hop and Best Visual Effects.
Also of note, Swift broke the record for the most VMAs ever won set by Beyoncé. The Single Ladies singer held the record after she amassed 25 wins at the Video Music Awards; Taylor Swift surpassed that record now that she has 29 VMAs.
In addition to the aforementioned massive stars racking up more awards, Sabrina Carpenter beat both Swift and Beyoncé by winning Song of the Year for Espresso. Chappell Roan, undoubtedly one of the biggest new names of 2024, was named Best New Artist.
Lenny Kravitz took home the Best Rock award (beating Green Day, Foo Fighters and more), Benson Boone won the Best Alternative award (over Linkin Park, Hozier and more), SZA was crowned Queen of R&B, and Billie Eilish took home the Video for Good with What Was I Made For.
Of course, there were even more winners at this year’s VMAs – check out the list of winners below, per Billboard.
