From Australia to Japan, to Indonesia and South Korea, Sydney-based producer Taka Perry and Japanese artist Leon Fanourakis have enlisted worldwide talent for their blistering new single BELIEVE.
Perry has had a solid run of single releases this year, collaborating with a plethora of international acts from the likes of South Korean rapper Wooseok and more predominantly, Indonesia’s Ramengvrl and Japanese rapper Leon Fanourakis. On BELIEVE, Perry has collaborated once again with the latter, alongside South Korean rapper sokodomo and Australia’s own YNG Martyr, pulling together a monstrous rap heater that transcends cultural boundaries.
Taka Perry’s production is known to induce sweat and make your neck hurt from head banging, treating BELIEVE to eerie synths, frenzied drum loops and drill-inspired production. Leon Fanourakis’ menacing vocal delivery sets the scene for the track before Ramengvrl enters with fiery, brazen bars. sokodomo chimes in with up-tempo Duke rap before the track closes with YNG Martyr who takes to the mic with his signature, heavy hitting delivery.
In a press release, Perry declared that having “a track with artists from Japan, Indonesia, Korea and Australia really excited me”.
“Hitting the studio in each region to track these verses, I could tell each scene has its own unique footprint and I loved celebrating that on the one track,”
“It’s something you don't hear enough of in today's hip hop scene.”
