Sydney Roosters rugby players have swapped footy boots for recording booths this off-season, forming new group Dreamyourz and releasing their debut single We Rock The Party last week.

Footy stars Joey Manu, Joseph Sua'ali'i, Sitili Tupouniua and Siua Wong make up the rap group, who began teasing something in the works in early November. In a string of social media posts since, Dreamyourz announced their official album OFF-SZN dropping on December 12. But before that, they wanted to give fans a taste of what they’ve been cooking with their debut single We Rock The Party.

The track has amassed 11k streams on Spotify and over 34k views on YouTube since its drop. With a keen R&B and classic hip-hop influence, the song sees the boys urge the listener to party and get lit. It’s a huge creative jump from their roots in sport, showing the members flex what they’re capable of outside of the footy field.

However, this isn’t a first for member Joey Manu. The footy player/artist released his jersey club/breakbeat/hip hop and rap-infused debut track Party All Night in December of last year, establishing his forthcoming musical journey. Over the past year, the song has done incredible numbers, sitting at 140k streams on Spotify.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Manu revealed that he has a recording studio in his home, where it's believed much of the group’s album was recorded. On their creative process, Wong said: “We’ve got our unique sound but we listen to a lot of RnB, hip hop and Afro beats artists. We pick apart those sounds and tunes and whatever we like, we implement those sounds and techniques to come up with our songs. Joey will send us the instrumental before we go into the studio and we are supposed to come up with the lyrics.”

While some fans have jokingly told the boys to “stay on the field”, most of the reception to Dreamyourz has been positive, with fans taking to Instagram and YouTube to congratulate them and give kudos to a new and exciting venture outside of rugby,
