Charming Netflix series Sweet Tooth has been revealed as one of the streaming giant’s biggest hits of the year, and that means A LOT of people have been introduced to New Zealand talent Marlon Williams.
According to Hollywood Reporter, 60 million accounts have tuned in to watch Sweet Tooth, making it the highest viewed series released on Netflix in the second quarter of 2021.
As Deadline reports, that makes it Netflix’s sixth most-watched English-language original series of all-time, just below The Queen’s Gambit at 62 million, while Bridgerton is #1 with 82 million.
The muso-turned-actor, who is no stranger to the screen, finds himself scoring more time under the spotlight as Johnny Abbot as the show’s first season draws to a close.
Williams also has one of his tracks, Hello Miss Lonesome, featured in episode six.
While a new season has yet to be confirmed, it’s looking like Williams could play a key role if/when we’re delivered more episodes.

And, as The Spinoff notes, Johnny Abbot is a “cult figure” in Jeff Lemire’s Sweet Tooth DC comic book series, which the Netflix show is based on.
In recent years, Williams has starred in both Ned Kelly-inspired film True History Of The Kelly Gang alongside Russell Crowe, Sons Of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam and more, and Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born.
Williams is slated to embark on an intimate solo tour of Australia this September, marking his first run of shows in the country since the release of Plastic Bouquet last year.
