The legendary Aussie outfit will play three shows down the right side of the country in February
Venerated Australian rock veterans Sunnyboys have enjoyed a renewed lease on life since restarting the old musical engine with gusto a couple of years ago, and they're extending their golden-years activity further with an impending three-show run down the east coast in February next year.
As it happens, the planned trio of gigs coincides with the 35th anniversary of the band's lauded 1981 self-titled debut. That album kicked off the country's long-running love affair with the band, yielding several beloved singles such as Happy Man and Alone With You, along with certified crowd favourites I'm Shakin', Trouble In My Brain, Tunnel Of Love and more, all contributing to the classic status of this enduring piece of the Aussie alt-culture fabric.
The band are pulling out all the stops to make their upcoming tour a celebratory affair to remember; as they make their way through the Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne, not only will their set feature the Sunnyboys album played in full, but their show in Sydney will feature — live for the first time since 1985 — former gig buddies Flaming Hands as well as fellow legends Shy Impostors.
Flaming Hands frontwoman Julie Mostyn could barely contain her excitement at the prospect of reigniting old flames, effusing in a statement: "When Peter Oxley called with the proposition of reforming the Flaming Hands for a gig with the Sunnyboys, I jumped at the opportunity," she said. "The two bands have a shared history both as friends and as contemporaries that played together in what was a golden era of Australian music.

"I later found out the Shy Impostors are also going to be on the bill … perfect! This gig will be a massive celebration."
It's not just Sydney that gets a side serve of veteran Oz-music love, however; down Melbourne way, cult faves X will lend their talents in support, while Queensland will be treated to the opening attack of The Celibate Rifles and Ed Kuepper w/Mark Dawson.
Tickets for all shows will go on sale from next Tuesday, 27 September, via Feel Presents.
