Two big tours are on the horizon for Melbourne based artist Sui Zhen.
The debut record from singer-songwriter Sui Zhen is called Two Seas, it's said to reflect the experiences the artist (whose real name is Becky Freeman) has had traveling the world over the past couple of years and features equal parts soaring and delicate vocals from the Sydney-raise, Melbourne-based artist. It will be released on Friday 4 May and not long after that she is getting out on the road, performing a bagful of shows around the country in support of the record, the former Red Bull Music Academy participant making sure that few parts of the east coast go unvisited over the next couple of months.
She plays solo shows alongside Carry Nation at The Newsagency in Sydney's Marrickville Thursday 12 April (with The Bearded Gypsy Band), The Waiting Room in Brisbane's West End Sunday 15 (with Emma Davis), while in Melbourne she plays Dexter Bar in Clifton Hill Thursday 19 (with WaywardBreed) and Pure Pop Records, St Kilda Saturday 28 (with Ben Wright Smith).
After this she gets the whole band together for the big album launch dates alongside Fanny Lumsden, hitting The Grace Darling Hotel in Melbourne Wednesday 30 May (with Elva, the band featuring Jessica Says and Emma Russack), Newcastle's The Lass'O'Gowrie Friday 1 June, FBi Social in Sydney Sunday 3, Black Bear Lodge (with Epithets) Wednesday 6, Yours and Owls, Wollongong (with Obscura Hail) and The Front Café & Gallery, Canberra Thursday 14 (with Daniel Champagne).
