“This EP will always have a special place in our hearts."
It's been a full decade since fresh-faced Melbournites Snakadaktal burst onto the scene with their hit single, Air. The alt pop five-piece had an average age of just 16 at the time, but their music propelled them into the stratosphere, winning the triple j Unearthed contest back in 2011 and even going on to support British indie outfit Alt-J on their national tour.
Fast forward to today and while the band are no more, their tunes still resonate with listeners the world over. To celebrate ten years of their breakout, self-titled EP, the band have announced a special re-release of the debut thanks to I OH YOU records.
"This EP will always have a special place in our hearts," a statement from the group explained.
"They’re the first songs we ever wrote together and will always remind us of being 16, exploring sounds one summer at Phoebe’s house. Love to everyone listening over the years and I OH YOU for the anniversary release x”
I OH YOU founder Johann Ponniah echoed the sentiment, adding, “The members of Snakadaktal and their music will always be an important part of the I OH YOU family, and our history. Releasing their music feels equally as special today as it did a decade ago.”
The Snakadaktal EP re-release will be available on a special, limited edition translucent pressing, on sale from Thursday, 25 November. Pre-orders for the EP are available now.
