Slayer Co-Founder Dave Lombardo To Hold Art Exhibition Down Under

Veteran musician and founding drummer of Slayer Dave Lombardo will hold his debut art exhibition, Rhythm Mysterium, Down Under for the first time later this month, with a pair of showings lined up in Sydney and Melbourne.

Those interested in the artworks of Lombardo — also known for his percussion work with outfits such as Fantômas and Philm, to name a couple — will be able to check them out in person at the cities' Outré Gallery branches: in Melbourne, at 249 Elizabeth Street, from this coming Monday, 19 October (6-8pm) through Sunday 25 October; in Sydney, at Shop 7/285A Crown Street, in Surry Hills, from Sunday 25 October through Wednesday 28 October.

Rhythm Mysterium marks yet another widening of Lombardo's already significant creative interests, having spent the better part of the past three-and-a-bit decades at the fore of heavy music culture; the works presented were created from photographs of Lombardo belting the skins using illuminating drumsticks, allowing his strokes and movements to be captured for posterity before being transferred to canvas.

Take a peek at some of the works on display — and, it must be mentioned, for sale — at Lombardo's exhibition below. For extra incentive to get along, it's worth noting that Lombardo himself will be appearing at both galleries during each city's opening hours.
