The Americana luminary brings the goods from Bluesfest to Sydney and Melbourne
Venerated Americana/blues/country/rock/basically genre-transcendent troubadour Shakey Graves will perform a pair of sideshows early next year while he's in the country to perform at the 2016 Byron Bay Bluesfest, it has been announced.
Off the back of increasingly high-profile appearances abroad — Newport Folk Festival, The Late Show With David Letterman, no big deal — Graves will take to the stage of Melbourne's Hamer Hall on Tuesday 29 March (opening for The Decemberists), following it up with a headline performance at The Basement, in Sydney, on Thursday 31 March.
Graves has spent the past four years on a solidly upward climb through acclaimed record after acclaimed record, his three-strong catalogue (not to mention the growing army of annual 'Shakey Graves Day' EP releases, available to buy for three days only a year) reflective of an artist at once both developing and wholly developed; expect tickets for his Australian shows to move quickly when they're released.
Passes for Graves' headline Sydney show go on sale from 9am (AEDT) this Thursday, 29 October, via Bluesfest Touring; Melbourne fans will have to wait till the same time the following day, 30 October, and find their passes through the Arts Centre Melbourne.
