San Cisco Cancel US Tour To Avoid 'Heavy Financial & Emotional Toll'

Australian indie-pop band San Cisco have cancelled their upcoming US tour, citing a “heavy emotional and financial toll”.

The tour was set to begin in Mexico City on 5 March and wrap up in Los Angeles on 27 March. While they’ve cancelled their US tour, their UK and Europe tour, which begins at the end of May, is still on. Their London and Amsterdam dates “are almost sold out”, with “all other shows well on their way”.

San Cisco announced the cancellation of their US tour via Facebook on Saturday (20 January) afternoon.

Addressing their fans abroad, the Lost Without You group wrote in a statement, “To our beloved fans in the USA, Canada & Mexico. It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of our tour in March due to a myriad of logistical and economical reasons.”

They continued to write that after making “painstaking preparations”, the band and their team’s projections “have been met with the stark reality of the current state of the North American touring climate with unpredictable, unexpected and unachievable elevated costs across the board”.

After attempting to “exercise every avenue and angle”, San Cisco confirmed that the situation would have led to them “compromising on delivering the best show possible” and carrying “a heavy emotional and financial toll”.

The decision to cancel their US tour was an “extremely difficult” one that they haven’t made lightly. The band continued, “Rather than reschedule to a time unknown and find ourselves in the same position, we believe that cancelling for now is the best avenue to ensure that you, the fans, can have the money back in your pockets and come see us again some time soon.

“We really do hope to come back when the time is right. To the fans who bought tickets, we want to extend our biggest thanks to you. Your love and support is so appreciated.”

San Cisco will perform at Tasmania’s Party In The Paddock festival next month, joining an abundance of local and international favourites, including Lime Cordiale, Ball Park Music, Holy Holy, Royel Otis, Kim Churchill, The Buoys, Forest Claudette, G Flip, Rudimental (UK), Milky Chance (EU), and rock legends The Darkness (UK).

In other San Cisco news, the Fremantle trio will drop their new album, Under The Light, on Friday, 1 March. It’s been a long four years between albums for San Cisco, but devoted fans of the breezy indie-rock trio will find that the wait has been worth it.

Under The Light was announced in October and was preceded by the singles High, the title track, Lost Without You, Horoscope and Honeycomb. Under The Light has been described as the album that “truly embodies the genuine essence of San Cisco”, according to the band, and was recorded in the first half of 2023 in LA and Fremantle.
