Royston Sagigi-Baira, who you know professionally as Royston Noell, will release his debut EP, Sunrise, in 2025.
Noell won the eighth season of Australian Idol in 2023, earning $100,000 in prize money and a recording contract with Sony Music Australia. He found fans thanks to his soulful voice and renditions of huge songs like I Know I’m Not The Only One by Sam Smith, Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, everything I wanted by Billie Eilish, Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson, I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner, and more.
Sunrise will be released on Friday, 28 February 2025. Noell described the EP as “the journey from darkness to light,” adding that the forthcoming project means a lot to him. You can pre-order the EP here.
After his Australian Idol win, Noell immediately released the single Invincible, which was written by Tones And I. He followed that up with Dreaming, and last month, he released the track Feeling Good.
In December, Noell opened for Guy Sebastian at his Sydney Opera House Forecourt shows, which celebrated the singer’s 20 years in music.
Noell said of the opportunity (which arrived after the release of Dreaming), “This moment literally reflects the sentiment of my new single. I was speechless when I received this call and am honoured and grateful to be offered this moment to perform for Guy’s fans & hopefully, some of my fans and supporters can also come join this celebration!”

In a 2023 interview with The Music, Noell discussed the challenges of keeping momentum going post-Idol.
“You can only ride the Idol wave for so long – soon enough, there's a new show out, and there's a new winner of that show to go with it,” he said. “People can forget you very easily. They lose that same connection that they had with you, watching you on TV every week. That's coming from somebody who watched these shows growing up, as well – I've seen how this plays out.
“What I've been trying to do is maintain the connection with people that have been following my journey – I'm sharing daily vlogs, I'm going live on Facebook, and I'm trying to stay as interactive as I possibly can. When you're on a high, you have to be strategic about how you keep it going.”
