Rogue Traders Are Dropping New Music Soon

The beloved Aussie electro-pop group, Rogue Traders, are preparing to release a new single, To The Disco, the first taste of new music from the band since 2011.

On New Year's Day, Rogue Traders posted a snippet of To The Disco on social media and signalled their return. The song is guaranteed to get fans dancing and recalls their 2007 track, On Your Way To The Disco, from their third album, Better In The Dark. We're unsure if the new single will feature the same fuzz guitar tones at this stage.

The band wrote, "HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLE! We’ve been waiting for a long time to share this with you - and at last we can reveal a tease of our brand new single To The Disco, dropping early 2023. 

"Inspired by an early RT album track, To The Disco takes us back to the DANCEFLOOR…. Much love to all our fans who have been patiently waiting for new music from us after all these years. The truth is, it takes time to get things feeling right - and this one feels right. Much love and see you in 2023".

Keyboardist James Ash posted another video last week, telling fans that he had just sent out the final mix of To The Disco - whether that's been sent to a record label, radio or elsewhere is uncertain. 

Last week, Rogue Traders also shared that Ash and singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte - who the band reunited with in 2015 - will host a single launch gig at the Colombian Hotel in Sydney on Thursday, 23 February. 

"We will be smashing a live DJ and Vocal set, celebrating the launch of our first new single in over a decade! It’s a free event, and space will be limited - (over 18s only) - it is going to be EPIC," they wrote. The band also used the hashtag #sydneymardigras - is a Rogue Traders appearance at Sydney WorldPride possible?

"Rogue Traders were already a decent name in the Australian dance scene, but teaming up with Neighbours actor Natalie Bassingthwaighte was a stroke of genius, with a string of hits ensuing from the album Here Come The Drums, kicking off with this total banger Voodoo Child," Stephen Green wrote in The Music's feature, Kylie To Holly To Dr Karl: 12 Songs 'Neighbours' Made Famous.

He added, "Sampling Elvis Costello's Pump It Up, the combination of the Traders with the Neighbours star was an undeniable winner and for a few years you couldn't move in an Aussie club without this one hitting the dancefloor. The song was also a UK hit, running up to #3, ahead of the #4 position it enjoyed here in Australia."
