Big Changes Announced For Record Store Day 2020

After much speculation and behind the scenes planning, Record Store Day 2020 is set to go ahead - with some major changes to the usual fair. 

For many music fans and record store owners, RSD is the biggest and busiest day of the year. However, social distancing regulations and safety concerns have forced the event to undergo a considerable facelift for 2020. 

Today, the RSD team have announced their alternative for the year under the title of RSD Drops - an extended and multi-platform initiative set to comply with the ever-changing rules surrounding COVID-19 as they evolve.

Each RSD Drop is slated to take place at monthly intervals to uphold public safety. Three dates, set to occur on the third Saturday of August, September and October, will allow vinyl aficionados around the country to get their hands on the exclusive and elusive releases for the year. 

The release schedule for each day will be available closer to the dates.

"They will not be a Record Store Day like we have known it,” RSD organisers have stated. 

"No live music, no beer, no queuing from 4am... none of the hanging with like-minded music fans. Sorry. And yes we are devastated at this too. Heavy hearts amongst the team here.

"These RSD Drop days, though, are designed to help you add to your collection in the safest way possible. They will be tailored to suit whatever conditions we need to follow at the time: online, email or phone orders, kerbside pick up, back door pick up, home delivery, in store... whatever the store can do that’s responsible and safe according to our governments."
