Record Store Day 2023: In-store Signings, Vinyl Hunts & MTV Takeover Confirmed

Record Store Day is kicking off at 8 am this Saturday, 22 April, with multiple celebrations confirmed. 

Record Store Day - a global celebration of the indie record store space and the most significant event on any music collector’s calendar - will be special in Australia this year, with a crop of in-store activities happening throughout the country.

A collection of in-store performances and DJ sets will take place across some record stores; here are some highlights you won’t want to miss:

Peking Duk instore signing at Beatniks in Queensland; live sets from Ella Thompson, Close Counters And The Rookies at Northside Records in Victoria; an intimate live performance from RedHook the day after their debut album, Postcard From A Living Hell, is released at Crosstalk Records in New South Wales; a RSD debut at Karma Llama in Western Australia with live performances from Emily Barker, The Stamps and Jack Davies; more live sets from Antenna, Cammy Cautious and The Wrestlers, Big Echo and Tropical Strength at Franks Wild Years in NSW, and heaps more.

The Australian Music Vault in Melbourne hosts a Record Store Day vinyl hunt, while MTV offers a little competition. From 6 am to 6 pm on the day, MTV will air five songs curated by local and international talent and tunes from fascinating acts in Australia and New Zealand.

MTV is also offering one in five fans a special MTV merch bundle and signed vinyl through their socials from Tuesday, 18 until Saturday, 22 April. To enter, fans need to repost and tag @MTVAustralia and @recordstoredayaustralia for a chance to win. 

If you can’t make it to Record Store Day this year, online sales of leftover RSD stock will be available at participating retailers’ online stores from 9 am Monday, 24 April.
