Race To Topple God From The Chart

Ed Sheeran and Birds Of Tokyo have joined the race to knock God off the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week, with midweek numbers showing that Hillsong United's Zion is trying to avoid a fall.

Knocked off the top earlier this week, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Push The Sky Away is hanging around, as are perennial sellers Pink's The Truth About Love and Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox.

UK singer – and latest Taylor Swift squeeze – Ed Sheeran's recent visit has given his album + a boost this week. The record has previously reached number one and will come close again in what will be its 72nd week in the chart.

Birds Of Tokyo's new album March Fires has had a strong lead in and topped the iTunes charts upon release last Friday. Likely to be a grower on Australian listeners, it will probably pull up short of the top spots on debut. The new album from Dido, Girl Who Got Away, is the other obvious bullet performer.

Things are getting tight in the ARIA Singles Chart as well, with Baauer's Harlem Shake, Pink and Nate Ruess' Just Give Me A Reason (currently top) and James Arthur's Impossible all with a claim to the number one spot at this point in the week.

Also tracking strongly are Avicii vs Nicky Romero's I Could Be The One and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Can't Hold Us. They'll both feature prominently in the next chart.
