"We feel obliged to hold our end of the bargain."
Perth psych-rockers Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have inked some pretty massive international and Aussie deals as revealed exclusively to theMusic.com.au.
Signing a worldwide deal with Marathon Records and an Australian deal with Caroline Australia, lead singer and guitarist Jack McEwan admitted "it did take [the band] a bit of persuading to sign".
"It seemed a good few years where all you heard were negative stories of corporate experiences taking all the excitement out of music, but after meeting with Marathon and seeing their roster (Pond, Courtney Barnett, Jagwar Ma) and how they’ve got this great team ethic and pretty exceptional track record of propelling Australian acts into international markets it seemed the best move for us," he said.
"Now it’s all inked we’re just excited to be given the chance to keep writing albums and have a solid platform to release it under. They also bribed us with a pretty shwanky meal as soon as we landed in London so we feel obliged to hold our end of the bargain else we’d still be there cleaning dishes."
Similarly on the local front, he was stoked about joining the Caroline roster.
"Signing with Caroline is a huge step forward for us, it means we’ve got a great platform to release our music and we no longer need to spend days on end packing and sending records out of Luke [Parish, guitarist]'s living room," he shared.
