"All the single girlies can listen to [it] all summer by the pool with some margaritas in hand."
Imogen Clark has always been one step ahead of the game, and with her new single, Compensating, she proves her creative ability a thousand times over.
Premiering today via The Music, its music video showcases Clark behind the lens of an old-school VHS camera, spilling her heart on the stage of an old karaoke bar. Cut to Clark prancing around town with her love interest, who's dressed in a ratty old costume that resembles a haggard-looking Big Bird and is clearly compensating. Filled with humour and fun, it perfectly represents Clark's style, while still getting the message across.
“This is part two of my last single Nonchalant, about the same guy. I got mad, now I’m getting even," Clark said. "When I got with Xavier Dunn to write this song, I wanted to take my heartbreak and make it something fun and cathartic, something that would make me feel powerful when I’m singing it, and all the single girlies can listen to all summer by the pool with some margaritas in hand."
Clark has had a big year, releasing countless singles and completing her 100 Shows In 100 Days Tour, but it's clear that she has no intention of slowing down anytime soon, announcing her 3rd Annual Holiday Hootenanny show set to light up the Lansdowne stage on Saturday, 3 December.
Previous years have seen the pop artist invite famous friends to join her in celebrating the music year gone by. This year, the line-up includes Charlie Collins, Eilish Gilligan, Jem Cassar-Daley, Camp Cope’s Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich, Frenzal Rhomb’s Lindsay McDougall and Mason Watts.
