This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Triple J’s Home and Hosed’s Ash McGregor and Adelaide local man-about-town Henry Doyle. The two are known for their wit and charm, and for championing emerging Australian talent on broader stages - there could not be two people more well-suited to anchoring the night that gives South Australian musicians their dues. They are sure to inject November 7th with ecstatic energy.
A diverse and exciting array of up-and-coming South Australian musicians have been revealed to be performing at this year’s SA Music Awards, including rock band West Thebarton, alt pop princess My Chérie, psychedelic experimental outfit Sons Of Zöku, and DJ SVVLO. Every one of these eclectic acts are musicians to watch out for, and the revered Dom Polski stage is the perfect place to showcase their sundry talents.
And finally, the one and only Guy Sebastian will be present on the night. The singer shot to fame after winning the first season of Australian Idol in 2003, and has subsequently represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest and has released ten top ten albums (seven of which gained platinum or multi-platinum certification). His exalted single Battlescars, featuring hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco, has been certified 14x platinum. He is the only Australian male artist in Australian chart history to have achieved six number one singles.
With such a stunning resume, it is no wonder that this year Sebastian is being inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame, and is marking the achievement with a special performance at this year’s SA Music Awards.
Tickets are available now for this annual celebration of the South Australian Music Industry. Following the glitz and glamour of the award ceremony, all guests will be invited to an exclusive after-party at Sugar, with free entry and special DJ appearances to be announced.
