Perth drum 'n' bass icons Pendulum have announced the release of their new documentary titled Pendulum: The New Era.
The doco delves into the origin of the group, their rise to fame, their eventual hiatus in 2012, and their triumphant return to Ultra Miami in 2016 alongside deadmau5 and Tom Morello, after having switched focus to their electro-house side-project Knife Party.
The explosive heading set sparked a renewed period of activity for Pendulum, with the group performing n their hometown Perth to ring in the new year at the 10-year anniversary of the Origin NYE festival.
On 9 January 2017, it was unveiled via their YouTube channel that Pendulum would be officially returning, with Rob Swire then announcing that he would be making a new Pendulum album and that the band departed from their label Warner Music UK opting for their own label, Earstorm, in order to have more creative control.
They then dropped The Reworks arriving in 2018, along with the singles Driver and Nothing For Free in 2020, and the Elemental EP in June 2021.
A remix EP of Elemental was later released on 19 November 2021.

On June 1 of this year, Pendulum then unleashed their long-awaited collaborative track with Bullet For My Valentine vocalist Matt Tuck, titled Halo, after premiering the track to an enraptured audience at London’s Alexandra Palace earlier this year.
The track features Pendulum’s signature heavy drum and bass style, with Tuck providing his screams during the verses, allowing vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Rob Swire to take the chorus.
In addition to new music, Pendulum has since signed a landmark new record deal with Mushroom Group and Virgin Music Group, the global independent music division of Universal Music Group.
“We are pleased to be joining forces with Mushroom / Virgin and reuniting with Korda Marshall, a visionary who played a pivotal role in our journey back in 2006,” Swire said in a statement earlier this month.
"We hope to make this phase of our career the most exciting one yet, and elevate our sound to unprecedented levels.”
Marshall added, “It’s a great pleasure to be back working with Rob and the Pendulum team. We're all so proud of the solid success Rob has achieved over the years — they were way ahead of their time as pioneers and originators of hybrid electronic/rock/drum and bass that inspired a whole generation and resonates strongly across music today.
“The new songs are sounding awesome and more relevant and attacking than ever, this first single featuring Matt from BFMV is a brilliant taste of what's to come on the forthcoming EPs.”
