Pearl Jam Kickstart Australian Tour Rumours Again
A Pearl Jam Australian tour announcement now seems imminent thanks to a world-first installation at Bondi Beach.

Australian Pearl Jam fans can work up some excitement again today, as a tour announcement down under seems imminent.
In a world first, Pearl Jam have taken over Sydney’s Bondi Beach today, inviting fans to journey down memory lane with some separate “activation areas”.
The fun begins at a bus shelter at the intersection of Campbell Parade/Hall St, featuring a takeover of custom posters leading fans to the activation area that contains an “Alive Stickman” logo installation. From there, fans can follow a pathway to its end and find a custom Pearl Jam traffic light pole and pedestrian crossing activation.
Then, it’s time to “press play for Pearl Jam” and hear a snippet of unreleased new music, possibly related to a teaser the band shared on social media yesterday.
The end of the pathway contains a gigantic 10-metre LED on the back of a truck, featuring band visuals and the chance to scan a QR code for another teaser related to new music and maybe little hints about the imminent Australian and world tour announcements.

This is the first teaser from Pearl Jam since the band took to Instagram just before Christmas and hinted at what might be their first Australian tour in ten years. Pearl Jam last performed in Australia for the final Big Day Out festival in 2014.
Posting a snippet of themselves performing Do The Evolution at their 1998 show at Melbourne Park, they wrote in the telling caption, “Are you koala-fied for our ticket presales? Not a current member? Hop to it, mate! 🐨🦘🇦🇺 #TenDaysOfPJ”.
Last month, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready discussed the band’s forthcoming unannounced 12th album in a Classic Rock Magazine interview, dropping this bombshell: “It’s a lot heavier than you’d expect. There’s the melody and energy of the first couple of records.”
McCready said listeners can expect “a lot more lead guitar from me”, saying he “went crazy” with the kind of guitar-playing on the Temple Of The Dog track Reach Down.
In the interview, McCready said the band hopes to release their new album this year and revealed that they worked with famed producer Andrew Watt, who’s known for his work with pop and rock legends, including Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and more.
