ONEFOUR Return With First Song Of 2024 'Natural Habitat'

Western Sydney’s own ONEFOUR are back with their first new song to be released in 2024, Natural Habitat, and they’re not done yet.

According to an Instagram post promoting the single, ONEFOUR will drop music “non-stop” for the rest of the year. In another post, they encouraged fans – especially those living in Australia and New Zealand – to sign up for their mailing list for “big news” on the way.

For fans who closely watch ONEFOUR’s trajectory, Natural Habitat is a song they’ve been anticipating for a year. The trio said about the song:

This is a song that our fans have been wanting us to drop for a while now, so we’re excited to finally release it. Natural Habitat is vintage ONEFOUR energy, that’s all we really have to say about it, the music can do the talking on this one. It’s going to go hard at our upcoming live shows so we’re looking forward to performing it for our fans.

Natural Habitat was produced by the group’s longtime collaborator Chandler Jewels and arrives after ONEFOUR won the APRA Award for Most Performed Hip-Hop Work (for Commas) and ahead of their first-ever festival headline slot at Melbourne’s RISING Festival next month.

Last month, UK producer duo Chase & Status teased a collaboration with ONEFOUR, which included the rap verse from the Sydney trio: “They gonna cancel us and thought that we’d forget it. Now they’re out here acting all apologetic.”

Likely referencing the group’s past tensions with the police, ONEFOUR’s sold-out national tour was cancelled after a police crackdown in 2019. Their 2023 Netflix documentary, Against All Odds, reignited this tension again with unprecedented police presence at the SXSW Sydney screening. 

The controversial rap group has many devoted fans, as well as haters. Earlier this year, police foiled a plot to murder two of the members. Their longtime manager subsequently left the fold, while ex-member Pio ‘YP’ Misa—who was teased in early clips of Natural Habitat—was ordained as a Christian priest.
