One-Of-A-Kind Rock Festival To Return To Brisbane

The one-of-a-kind rock event, The Other Festival, will make its triumphant return to The Tivoli in Brisbane on 28 January.

The event will be headlined by Aussie rock heroes Cog, who recently appeared on stages at Monolith Festival alongside Karnivool, Plini and Ocean Grove. The trio will make their 2023 live debut at The Other Festival.

Brisbane heavy-hitters Osaka Punch and progressive metal luminaries The Stranger also feature, with Sydney's Bare Bones, Gold Coast punks The Wrath, Brissie heavy rockers Rhino, alt mavericks Mass Sky Raid, Brisbane progressive chameleons Kodiak Empire, Northern NSW groove merchants Minds?End, Brisbane post-punks Prince Peace and Gold Coast funk machines Hot Cobra build the bulk of the line-up.

These fantastic Australian acts will be accompanied by some extra special DJ sets courtesy of DJ Pricey, Osaka Punch's very own Chrispytown and the enigmatic Beaver Fever.

The 2021 inaugural event was hosted by Cog, Wolf & Cub, Osaka Punch, From Crisis To Collapse, Hammers, Patient Lounge, These Four Walls, Being Jane Lane, Smoking Martha and more.

The Other Festival has something for everyone who enjoys rock music – whether prog rock is your thing, grunge remains one of your top listened-to genres, you like a breakdown, or some straight-up great riffs, a day at The Tivoli has never sounded better.

Taking place from 2 pm, festivalgoers will experience wall-to-wall musical goodness. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

We caught Cog at Monolith Festival in August last year and noted, “Fog settles over the field, and the moon beams brightly, setting the scene for the luxurious spacey prog rock of the legendary Cog. The trio seem to be in a world of their own as they launch into their earthy yet mystical rock hits from the past two decades; they are immersed in the zone of their art. It’s the veterans showing us how it’s done as Flynn Gower showcases his extraordinary skill in playing guitar lines that are completely at odds with his vocal melodies.”

We added, “The whole crowd is belting out the lyrics to these beloved tunes, and it’s clear there are a lot of lifetime fans here. I’m in awe of the musicianship shown here, with the effortless yet epic uneven time signature drumming from Lucius Borich, the huge bass grooves from Luke Gower, and Flynn’s skill and presence as a frontman. The overall experience creates a beautiful energy that radiates through the crowd, and it feels like a very special moment in time.”
