Morrisette who is currently on tour made news locally in June for cancelling her scheduled Australian tour.
The Canadian singer issued an announcement at the time with promoted Live Nation citing “scheduling issues” and “the unprecedented logistical challenges of global touring in 2022”.
The upcoming run of arena shows in November, which had previously been rescheduled due to COVID, were to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the seminal album Jagged Little Pill.
“My friends in Australia & New Zealand, I am crestfallen to announce that the upcoming Jagged Little Pill anniversary tour dates have been cancelled,” Morissette said. “I love you all and will be back as soon as we can. Until then, big hug.”
Last year, the controversial Alanis Morissette documentary Jagged premiered via Foxtel, despite backlash from the singer.
In the lead-up to its original release on HBO, Morissette slammed the doco - which takes a deep look into the making of her seminal 1995 album Jagged Little Pill - saying the piece does not portray an accurate representation of events.
"I agreed to participate in a piece about the celebration of Jagged Little Pill’s 25th anniversary and was interviewed during a very vulnerable time (while in the midst of my third postpartum depression during lockdown)," said Morissette in a statement.
"I was lulled into a false sense of security and their salacious agenda became apparent immediately upon my seeing the first cut of the film."
The singer continued, "this is when I knew our visions were in fact painfully diverged. This was not the story I agreed to tell. I sit here now experiencing the full impact of having trusted someone who did not warrant being trusted."
Morissette went on to say she no longer endorsed the film. The album in question featured super hits such as You Oughta Know, Ironic, Hand In My Pocket and many more, and even spawned a stage musical.
