Northlane will release the EP 'Mirror's Edge' this April, a collection of tracks that stars Winston McCall, Karnivool's Ian Kenny and former bassist Brendon Padjasek.

It’s a big day for fans of Australian heavy music, with Northlane dropping a monstrous new single with Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall.
Miasma is a mid-tempo, moody number that showcases Northlane’s flawlessly dynamic and complex guitars and drums and Marcus Bridge’s chameleonic sang-screamed vocals. Meanwhile, nobody is prepared for the beastly performance offered by McCall.
Northlane guitarist Josh Smith detailed the significance of working with McCall on Miasma, revealing in a press release that Parkway Drive aren’t just inspirational to the band, but laid the blueprint for all Australian heavy music acts.
“Parkway Drive were always our number one inspiration as a band,” Smith said. “When we first started, their DVD [Parkway Drive: The DVD, 2009] created a roadmap to success, which we did our best to follow. At a time where every band was ripping their sound off, we chose to take our own path but instead emulate their work ethic, and for us, it paid dividends.
“Over time, that respect has flowed both ways. With this track being so heavy, we couldn’t think of a more perfect guest than Winston. He flew down from Byron just after we toured together in North America, and we tracked his parts in Jon’s [Deiley, Northlane guitarist] home studio. His brute voice just tore the track to pieces, and we were stunned with the result.”

As well as sharing Miasma today - the follow-up to the previous single Dante - Northlane have announced the upcoming release of the EP Mirror’s Edge. The EP will be released on Friday, 12 April.
Mirror’s Edge doesn’t just feature McCall, but extra guest stars Ian Kenny (of Karnivool/Birds Of Tokyo fame) and former bassist Brendon Padjasek lending his epic scream on two tracks.
The new EP was recorded with longtime friend and revered heavy producer Will Putney last August – a reunion Northlane told us about in an exclusive The Music interview.
Marcus Bridge said about the new EP, “It’s like looking at your reflection, looking at the past and everything I've been thinking about, or caught up within the last little while. There’s not much positivity in these songs, but it is about acceptance. Hopefully, by putting these songs out, I can leave that stuff behind, and I can kind of find a new direction and something to be positive about on the other side of this mirror's edge.”
