Northlane have unleashed a gripping new single, Dante, ahead of their February 2024 Australian tour.
The intense new number finds the Aussie metal outfit packing in moody, atmospheric vibes, cyberpunk influences and some of the most remarkable sung vocals from Marcus Bridge in the emotionally heavy chorus. Some fans will likely be disappointed with the lack of breakdowns, but they wouldn’t have fit here.
Dante is undoubtedly a different song for the four-piece, who described it as the Alien highlight “4D on steroids”—originally written by guitarist and songwriter Jon Deiley as a dance track separate from Northlane, the band configured and developed the song until it represented a new era and still maintained some of their signature sound.
Dante is their first new song since releasing their ARIA #1 album, Obsidian, last year and marks their first collaboration with revered heavy producer Will Putney (production credits include Every Time I Die, Thy Art Is Murder, In Hearts Wake, and the Grammy Award-winning track Bum-Rush by Body Count from their 2020 album Carnivore) in years. The band previously worked with Putney on 2013’s Singularity, 2015’s Node and the 2016 Equinox EP.
Bridge said about the new single, “Dante is a song about losing someone close to us. As we try to process our grief, we are constantly asking ourselves questions, memories clouded with reminders of our loved one’s pain, wondering if there’s anything we could have done.”

Northlane’s upcoming massive Australian tour arrives after they revealed they were back in the studio with Will Putney in a The Music exclusive.
“We’ve cherry-picked our favourite sounds from Northlane’s discography,” Bridge told us in September. “This new music feels like a refined version of everything we’ve done up until now and a step into the future for us, finding even more new avenues to explore.”
The tour will find Northlane accompanied by American progressive metal outfit ERRA, French metalcore band Landmvrks, and Aussie heavyweights Banks Arcade. A second show has been added in Melbourne due to demand.
