Nick Cave has announced an intimate run of performances in Melbourne (Naarm) and Sydney (Eora), where he’ll be only joined onstage by a bassist (that being Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood).

Cave will perform two shows in each city, first taking to The Plenary in Melbourne on Thursday April 25 and Friday 26, followed by Sydney’s State Theatre on Monday April 29 and Tuesday 30. Tickets for all four shows go on sale at 10am AEDT tomorrow (December 13) – find them here.

In a press statement, Cave said of his excitement for the upcoming run: “I cannot wait to bring this special show to Australia next year, accompanied by the great Colin Greenwood. It is a privilege to share the songs with an audience in this way – stripped back and unadorned, revealing their essential nature.”

The short tour follows Cave’s last visit to Australia in late 2022, when he took to stages alongside frequent collaborator Warren Ellis, plugging their Carnage album from the year before.

Meanwhile, last month brought the news that Cave’s 2009 novel The Death Of Bunny Munro is being adapted for television, with actor Matt Smith onboard to executive produce and play the titular role.
