Beavis & Butt-Head Now Pop Music Critics; Here's Who New Season Will Probably Roast

The new series of Beavis and Butt-Head will see the 90s cartoon icons offering their unique take on music by popular artists including BTS, Tyler, the Creator, Post Malone and Olivia Rodrigo.

The ninth season of the classic MTV series will bring back the duos' fabled music video reviews, with the aforementioned artists joining Camilla Cabello, CNCO and Cale Dodds as artists to have their works judged by Beavis and Butt-Head.

The music videos won't be all the two perenially unwashed and constantly mumbling metalheads will be casting their discerning eye over either, with creator Mike Judge reportedly introducing Beavis and Butt-Head hot takes on new video formats including TikTok.You can watch a clip for an episode titled The Special One below where the duo give their thoughts on a TikTok post by @scconvict called How To Make Prison Ink.  Another scene shows a literal bin fire commanding Beavis to do things. So so far, so very Beavis and Butt-Head. 

Pitchfork is reporting that the new series, which will debut via Paramount + from today, features an episode where Beavis declares that he is a member of the BTS Army. Hearing what Butt-Head thinks of that admission is sure to be dynamite viewing. 

Mike Judge shared his thoughts on the new series with the New York Post revealing that while some people would have been concerned that the comedic styling of the classic series wouldn't hold up in 2022, he didn't let that influence his approach to the new series. 

"Why bother?” I think it was [“South Park” creators] Trey Parker or Matt Stone who said something I thought of as a great compliment. They said, “Beavis and Butt-Head” is like the blues: it’s the same thing over and over again but it’s good.” I think that’s about right. You’re not laughing at what they’re laughing at, you’re laughing at what they think actually constitutes a joke. There’s also the timing of it, trying to throw something in when you don’t quite expect it or when you absolutely expect it. It kinda feels like it’s one or the other, sometimes. I didn’t want to make them smarter; there are TV shows to me, like “The Beverly Hillbillies or “The Three Stooges,” that I’ll just laugh at all the time even though it’s the same sort of joke over and over. There’s something comforting about seeing [Beavis and Butt-Head] not grow much at all, ever "

Hearing this from Judge will be comforting news for those hoping for some unapologetic skewering of our current cultural icons. 

The new series of Beavis and Butt-Head follows their well-received Paramount + movie Beavis And Butt-Head Do The Universe which was released in June.
