He's not bringing The Specials or Special Beat though.
The original rude boy himself, Neville Staple, is coming back to Australia in March to play a series of very intimate club dates as he leaves The Specials at home and tours with his own band this time around.
The Jamaican-born, British-bred Staple earned his first success as a musician in the late-1970s when he joined one of the most important ska bands in the history of the world, The Specials, as a vocalist and percussionist, known widely for his considerable skills when it came to toasting.
While The Specials are currently active, as is Special Beat – the band featuring members of The Specials and fellow British band The Beat – Staple continues to tour with his own band and it is this project that comes to Australia in March for a series of shows that will give fans a chance to get up close and personal with one of ska music's most influential figures.
While Staple might be 57 years old, he puts many younger artists to shame when it comes to his boundless onstage energy, so make sure you come to these shows prepared to dance for a long time!
