South Carolina rockers NEEDTOBREATHE are back with Hideaway, a new single in the lead-up to their ninth album, Caves, which arrives on Friday, 15 September.
Unlike the raspy, dynamic energy of the previous single, The Cave, Hideaway instead opts for the kind of relatable, tender, emotional rock song that can blare on the radio and have arena audiences in tears. You can listen to the new single below.
Co-written by vocalist Bear Rinehart alongside Nashville songwriters Trent Dabbs and John-Luke Carter, Hideaway is filled with swelling hope and togetherness through resilience.
“We travelled to Utah to do pre-production on some new songs, and ‘Hideaway’ came together in a really magical way,” the band explained in a press release. “It’s one of our favourite moments on the record.”
Caves was written in two phases, post lockdowns and restrictions brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. The first took place in Utah, where NEEDTOBREATHE finally reunited in person, and the second while they were on tour opening for OneRepublic.
Caves also finds NEEDTOBREATHE embracing the collaborative spirit, linking up with Judah & The Lion (on Dreams), Old Dominion (Wasting Time), Carly Pearce (Fall On Me), and Foy Vance (Temporary Tears).

“Sometimes the things you’ve done in your career, the highs and lows that you’ve experienced, create a shadow that you just can’t break free from,” the band said in a statement, explaining where they’re at with Caves.
“In order to write new songs that still matter to people, we had to move away from the identity of what others think we are and into the freedom of who we are becoming.”
They continued, “We always believed we could make a record that would feel at home on the world’s biggest stages. It was important to us to prove that we could. This is the most ambitious record we’ve made in a really long time.”
