The British songstress is making her maiden voyage worth the considerable trip
Renowned UK neo-soul chanteuse NAO is fixing to charm as many local ears as she can when she makes her first-ever trip to the country as part of next year's Laneway Festival line-up, announcing two new headline dates to complement her event appearance.
Hitting Aussie shores in the wake of her acclaimed debut full-length, For All We Know, NAO will hit up Howler, in Melbourne, and Sydney's Oxford Art Factory along with her commitments at the festival's Australian, Singapore and NZ events.
Second runner-up in BBC's Sound Of 2016 hot list, NAO has seen a remarkable ascent since releasing her first EP, So Good, in late 2014. Even that effort nabbed her considerable praise, hitting #4 on the iTunes Electronic chart and ushering its title track to airplay on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1Xtra. By September last year, she was soaring to prominence as a featured vocalist and writer on Disclosure's lauded LP Caracal (for the track Superego), as well as going on to rack up appearances at international festivals including Primavera Sound, Glastonbury and Pitchfork Festival.
It's safe to say, then, that NAO is evidently a truly world-class performer in the making, and her debut festival performances and headline shows in the country will undoubtedly prove themselves just the first taste of an inevitably long love affair with the rising songstress for Aussie audiences.
