Over 30 Years In And This US Metal Group Might Secure Their Highest Charting Album To Date
Here's how things are shaping up according to the ARIA mid-week charts.
There's nothing like some heavy metal to get the blood pumping; just ask Californian behemoths Fear Factory, aka one of the most influential acts on the heavy scene during the '90s, and proud owners of a recent tenth studio album Aggression Continuum. And while fans have been losing their collective minds over the brand new release, if the mid-week charts are any indication, Fear Factory could now be perched on their highest rating album ever in Australia, with a potential Top 10 debut on the ARIA Albums Chart.
It's been two decades since Fear Factory have tasted an Aussie Top 10, with Digimortal taking out the tenth place back in 2001; but this week's chart debut is daring to place the band firmly in contention to hit a career high in Australia, both from a debut and general peak position perspective.
Aggression Continuum was a long time coming for fans and the industry alike, with the 2021 release closing out the group's longest-ever wait between new tunes, following an extended hiatus after 2015's Genexus. But the wait has been entirely worth it for many, with the added welcome revelation of Mike Heller on drums, as well as Fear Factory founding member Dino Cazares appearing on both guitar and bass on the album.
Other potential movers and shakers on this week's ARIA Album charts includes the brand new album Super Cool Tree House from Aussie rapper Seth Sentry, as well as some possible huge moves up the ladder from Aussie stalwarts Baby Animals and their 1991 self-titled full-length, and the non-Bad Seeds collab Carnage from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis which finally got a physical run late last week after some COVID-related false starts (and also looking at a milestone debut in the UK).
Over in Singles land, get set to see some chart debut sparkle from KSI with Holiday as well as the resplendent return to form for Gang Of Youths with the long-awaited release of The Angel Of 8th Ave. And the Tik Tok factor is looking likely to continue to ricochet nostalgia higher and higher, with Boney M's Rasputin threatening to rise up the charts again, and some upswings for Vance Joy's Missing Piece, Tom Grennan's Little Bit of Love, and the Marshmello and Jonas Brothers team-up on Leave Before You Love Me
