In an unexpected team-up, Foo Fighters were joined by Michael Bublé at the San Francisco festival Outside Lands on Saturday (12 August).
During the segment of the Foo Fighters show that calls back to the acts their new drummer, Josh Freese, has played with – including Devo, Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails, to name a few – a piano intro to the unmistakable Michael Bublé track, Haven’t Met You Yet, started playing.
Calling to the “super fan” in the audience, holding up an “I <3 Bublé” sign, Dave Grohl said, “This motherfucker better know the song”.
Explaining the inside joke, he continued, via Consequence Of Sound, “We’ve been doing that thing where people from the audience come up and say ‘I know that fucking song,’ and they walk up, and they know the first verse, they don’t know it,” he said.
“So this badass motherfucker — and I’m not even kidding — flew in today from Argentina to fucking sing that song to you guys. Because there’s no such thing as taking a joke too far.”
Fans realised that the “super fan” really was Bublé once the singer hit the stage and started singing his song, breaking out into rapturous cheers. You can watch Michael Bublé performing Haven’t Met You Yet with Foo Fighters below.

Michael Bublé recently visited Australia, playing in arenas nationwide in June.
Performing songs from his 11th studio album, Higher, alongside fan favourites and “his trademark innovative takes on the great classics,” the It’s A Beautiful Day singer said about his return down under, “I have been touring Australia for 20 years now, and the fact that you all keep turning up to my shows makes me feel like the luckiest man alive.
“I absolutely adore performing live; being on stage is complete and utter enjoyment for me. It’s a great pleasure and honour for me to be able to show up and be made feel so welcome.”
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are returning to our shores this November and December, confirming a second and final show in Melbourne after the pre-sale met unprecedented demand.
The tour supports the Foos’ newly-released 11th album, But Here We Are, which earned a 4.5-star review from The Music. In it, Stephen Green wrote that Grohl “has created a pop-rock opus, delivering complex emotion through simple lyrics and melodies in a way that hits directly at the heart”.
