The cult heroes will return Down Under for their first shows since 2008's acoustic tour
Beloved ugly-rock veterans mewithoutYou have confirmed they will be returning to Australia for their first headline tour of the country since 2008's acoustic performance at Soundwave Festival.
There have been suspicions that this reveal was coming for a while — a Facebook event page advertising the tour was set up earlier this month, despite the lack of an official announcement, with page organisers originally suggesting the tour would only happen if the right support was shown, so this confirmation from the band's camp indicates the Aussie faithful indeed pulled it together in time to make the trip worthwhile.
And worthwhile, it will be; the band, who released fifth full-length Ten Stories in 2012 and just got done celebrating the tenth anniversary of their breakthrough effort Catch For Us The Foxes on tour with The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, will kick off their 2015 southern-hemisphere sojourn at Perth's Amplifier on Friday, January 23. From there, they take in performances at Adelaide's Uni Bar, 170 Russell, in Melbourne, Sutherland's Studio Six (on Australia Day), Baker St, on the NSW Central Coast, UTS Underground, and Newcastle's The Small Ballroom before wrapping up in sunny Queensland at Brisbane's The Brightside on Sunday, February 1.
The return jaunt is extra-special, as not only is it mewithoutYou's first visit in six years, but the fact that visit comes after Ten Stories — as opposed to 2009's polarising/largely maligned It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright — and so soon after Catch For Us The Foxes' tenth birthday suggests that we should be in for one hell of a career-spanning (hopefully It's All Crazy-light) set list when the band touch down in January.
