Andrology Australia has issued a statement to The Music.
Men's health organisation, Andrology Australia, has thrown its support behind Brisbane band The Gametes after the words "male impotency" seen in their music video was censored by Brisbane City Council.
The video for Star Surfer IX was submitted into the council's QUBE Effect competition, where the winner will be awarded $1,000.
BCC explained that the words printed on a sign in the clip were blurred because "sexually explicit content, discriminatory comment and political comment" was not permitted in the competition, which Andrology Australia, a centre for male reproductive health, has taken exception to.
"At least one in five men over the age of 40 years has erectile problems and about one in ten men are completely unable to have erections. Men should not be made to feel as if this is a taboo subject," CEO Simon Von Saldern told The Music today.

"Talking about health issues is never easy, that's why the Brisbane City Council's decision to censor the Gametes film clip sends a terrible message to all men."
The Gametes confirmed to The Music yesterday that should they win the QUBE competition, they will donate half of the winnings to Andrology Australia.
"The Gametes are to be applauded not only for trying to raise funds for us but for talking about male health," Von Saldern said.
"It’s healthy to talk about health concerns and men have enough trouble opening up as it is. I've gotten in touch with the band to commend their efforts.”
