Members Of Sum 41 & Simple Plan Joined The Offspring On Stage For 'Why Don't You Get A Job?'

Iconic American punk rockers The Offspring recently finished a tour with special guests Sum 41 and Simple Plan. To commemorate the strong bill, brought up the vocalists of each band, Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley and Simple Plan’s Pierre Bouvier, for a singalong rendition of Why Don’t You Get A Job?

Led by Dexter Holland’s charismatic vocal – “My friend's got a girlfriend, man, he hates that bitch / He tells me every day”, Whibley quickly joined The Offspring on stage at the Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York.

By the time the second verse rolled around, Bouvier, wearing an “Emo’s Not Dead” spray jacket, lent the Simple Plan agony to the Americana classic.

Last December, The Offspring returned to Australia with Sum 41 on their Let The Good Times Roll tour. The trek marked The Offspring's first since headlining the debut Good Things Festival in 2018, while Sum 41 featured on the 2019 Download Festival line-up.

In April 2021, the band dropped their first album in nearly ten years, Let The Bad Times Roll. “We know, we know... It's been 9 years since you got your hands on a new Offspring album, but we think you've waited long enough,” The Offspring said in a statement. 

“We are beyond thrilled to present you with our new single, Let The Bad Times Roll!”

Earlier this year, Sum 41 revealed their plans to disband after 27 years as a band, but not before releasing a final album, Heaven :x: Hell, and embarking on a farewell tour across the globe.

Sum 41 wrote in a social media statement: “Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans, both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you, and we wanted you to hear this from us first.

“Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we're looking forward to releasing our final album Heaven :x: Hell, along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them.

“For now, we look forward to seeing all of you skumfuks on the road and are excited for what the future will bring for each of us.

“Thank you for the last 27 years of Sum 41.”
