Their first Aussie date in over 20 years.
Legendary alternative rock progenitors Meat Puppets have been confirmed as the headliners for the 2014 instalment of Melbourne's mammoth Cherry Rock festival to take place at the Cherry Bar on AC/DC Lane in the city's CBD this May.
The band, who formed in 1980, are led by brothers Curt and Cris Kirkwood, and despite releasing eight albums of hugely influential rock'n'roll beforehand, it was their appearance as guests on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance and the following LP, 1994's Too High To Die, that gave them more mainstream recognition.
The band hit Australia for the first time on over 20 years this year, playing shows in support of their 14th album, last year's Rat Farm, and leading another very solid Cherry Fest line up. Also on the bill thus far is Chris Russell's Chicken Walk, King Of The North, New Zealand's Beastwars, Child, Drunk Mums, The Harlots, Don Fernando, Bitter Sweet Kicks and more still to come.
The show hits the Cherry Bar on Sunday 25 May and tickets are available now.
