The first three artists performing at this year’s St Kilda Festival have been revealed, with Mallrat, Bag Raiders, and Mo’Ju added to the line-up.
Mo’Ju will perform on the first of two days – St Kilda Festival became a two-day spectacle last year – for the First Peoples First event on Saturday, 17 February, while Mallrat and Bag Raiders will play the traditional Big Festival Sunday on Sunday, 18 February.
Singing Our Futures will also return to St Kilda Festival this year. Presented by the Archie Roach Foundation, the program offers a one-of-a-kind mentoring experience that helps up-and-coming First Nations artists with their songwriting and recording. In addition to the Singing Our Futures program, the JBL-presented New Music Competition returns on Sunday, with the winner receiving $5,000 and a slot on the Main Stage at the 2025 St Kilda Festival.
60+ acts and the complete St Kilda Festival program will be revealed on Wednesday, 17 January.
The festival is packed with numerous stages, including the Main Stage, O’Donnell Gardens Stage, Triangle Stage, Cointreau Summer Stage (18+), and the Locals Stage at Acland Plaza. Street performers and buskers will also play music throughout the precinct.
In a statement, St Kilda Festival Lead Sullivan Patten said about the upcoming event, “St Kilda Festival continues to support the Australian music industry while creating an unforgettable experience for festivalgoers. It’s great to see the community come together for a diverse day out, which has something for everyone.”

City of Port Phillip Mayor Heather Cunsolo added: “We are excited St Kilda Festival is returning in 2024 to celebrate Australian music in Victoria’s first Live Music Precinct. Our beautiful beachside neighbourhood is ready to welcome visitors and locals for a weekend of festivities, music and family fun.”
Mo’Ju released their fourth studio album, Oro, Plata, Mata, last year and was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize, which was won by Melbourne indie rock group RVG.
Meanwhile, Mallrat made headlines for her FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 collaborative single with BENEE, Do It Again, and Bag Raiders are experiencing a second shot at fame after Troye Sivan sampled their 2011 hit Shooting Stars on the single Got Me Started.
