Luca Brasi Unveil Limited Edition Trading Cards

Tasmanian punk-rock favourites Luca Brasi are releasing a series of goofy-looking, hilarious footy trading cards to celebrate the release of their upcoming new album, The World Don’t Owe You Anything, due for release this Friday, 29 September, via Cooking Vinyl Australia. It’s ingenious marketing, really.

The footy cards depict each member of Luca Brasi, including Danny “Flog” Flood and Thomas “Buzz On” Busby. Luca Brasi revealed the news on social media this morning, writing:

Introducing limited edition L.B.F.C trading cards with all of your favourite players! Today we are featuring club legends 'Flog' and 'Buzz On'. Unmatched for riffs and drumming efficiency, the boys have had a huge year.

As well as footy cards, Luca Brasi will mark their new release with an intimate acoustic tour across the country, beginning tomorrow night (28 September) at The Vanguard in Sydney.

From there, the band will head to The Curtin in Melbourne on release day, Brisbane’s Stranded Bar on Saturday, 30 September, and the group’s hometown audience will experience a special night at Hobart’s Deep South Brewing on Sunday, 1 October.

Luca Brasi detailed their apprehension about releasing a new single, Sonny, amid singer and bassist Tyler Richardson facing a family crisis.

In late July, The Music reported that the band’s guitarist, Patrick Marshall, started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the Richardson family as the singer’s one-year-old son, Harris, was “diagnosed with cancer out of the blue”. Richardson and his wife Alix are gearing up to move to Melbourne, where Harris can begin receiving treatment at a children’s hospital.

The parents will be unable to work for at least a year as Harris undergoes medical care, leaving them with “a financial strain” on top of “what is already a super stressful time for them”.
