Lewis Capaldi Reportedly Scores A Massive Netflix Documentary

Lewis Capaldi has reportedly signed a seven-figure contract and scored a documentary about his life on Netflix.

As The Sun reports, the Forget Me singer has been recording moments from his career for the last seven years, with Netflix on board to officially commission a documentary film.

The movie will showcase Capaldi working on his massively successful debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, as well as behind the scenes footage about his upcoming album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which will be released on 19 May.

According to The Sun's source, "This documentary has been a labour of love and the outcome is a really eye-opening picture of who Lewis is. It shows his funny side but also much more personal elements."

The source also revealed that the director is Joe Pearlman, "who was behind the infamous 2018 documentary Bros: After The Screaming Stops. Netflix is really impressed by what has been made and they have forked out a massive sum to have it exclusively. The hope is it will be out this year."

Last month, Capaldi revealed that he uses two songwriting pseudonyms - Anita Jobby and Sooka Phatwan - for tracks he considers "duds". 

Speaking on the couch on The Graham Norton Show, as quoted by Metro, he said, "I’ve been writing songs for other people, and most of them have been tragic failures," and he doesn't want to use his real name "in case they’re absolute fucking duds".

He chose the name Anita Jobby because "in Scotland, if you go for a shite, you go for a jobby." Meanwhile, the second name makes sense to the Someone You Loved singer because "I think when you look at me, you think, 'Sooka Phatwan'".

One of the songs he co-wrote under the pseudonyms included one for Australia's own Dean Lewis in his collaboration with Norwegian DJ Kygo, Never Really Loved Me. As Anita Jobby, Capaldi has found success as the track peaked at #14 in Norway, #16 in Sweden, and #100 in Switzerland last year. "That one actually did well, so… Fuck," he commented.

Then, he cheekily looked directly at the camera and added, "Any budding artists out there who want to Sooka Phatwan, give me a call. We all know how you get ahead in this business."

Lewis Capaldi is returning to Australia in July to embark on his biggest-ever shows down under.
