It’s been more than two years since Australia has been able to bask in the glory and free-wheeling madness of a King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard tour, but this December, they’re finally coming home.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will play a special bunch of East Coast shows in December. And for fans, it wouldn’t be surprising to discover that this is no regular tour. In fact, the psychedelic rockers are promising a “dual-headed tour” that features two very different types of shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
The band begins their tour with two orchestral shows at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday, 2 December, and Wednesday, 3 December, when they'll be joined by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
From there, the band will host two rock n roll shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday, 5 December, and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday, 7 December. For those shows, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will be accompanied by special guests Party Dozen.
The fun continues at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, 9 December, followed by a double-header at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

On Friday, 12 December, they’ll be joined by Orchestra Victoria and special guests Folk Bitch Trio, and on Saturday, 13 December, they’ll put on a rock show with support from Barkaa. Melbourne faithful keen on attending both gigs can access a discounted two-night bundle.
The artist pre-sale will be available on Wednesday, 21 May, at 10 am local time ahead of the general sale, which goes on sale on Friday, 23 May, at 10 am local time. You can find tickets via King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s website.
One of Australia’s greatest cultural and creative exports, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are touring in support of their forthcoming 27th album, Phantom Island, due for release on Friday, 13 June, via their own p(doom) records. You can pre-order/pre-save Phantom Island here.
