German Grammy Award-winning artist Kim Petras has officially released her album Problématique. The surprise LP contains ten tracks.
Problématique was supposed to be Petras’ major label debut album, but it was put on hold and later leaked in 2022.
After the album leaked, Petras encouraged fans to “listen to the leaks” and said that the album was “in limbo”.
She added, in a pair of since-deleted tweets, “I’m not getting to put out any music anyways. I’m fucked” and “I’m devastated idk how all of this happened and I just wanna quit.”
The ten-track LP was co-produced by Dr. Luke, Aaron Joseph, and Vaughn Oliver and features the Paris Hilton collaborative track All She Wants and the songs Treat Me Like A Ho, Confession, Love Ya Leave Ya, and more.
“It was shocking when I found out part of the album leaked — at the time — that it wasn’t ever going to come out, especially as I poured so much of myself into it,” Petras said in a statement about Problématique to The Associated Press. “I was heartbroken but, at the same time, it was really exciting to see my fans listening to the tracks and loving them.”

She added, “Now that I’m able to put them out, it’s just so freeing to have more music that I love out in the world and officially share them in a way that all my fans can hear them.”
2023 has already been an impressive year for Petras, with the singer winning the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance for Unholy alongside Sam Smith.
Petras is the first openly transgender woman to win a Grammy Award, though the Evening Standard notes that American electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos was the first transgender woman to win a Grammy Award. Carlos won three Grammy Awards in 1970.
In June, Petras released her debut album, Feed The Beast, which features collaborations with Smith, Nicki Minaj and Banks, alongside the singles Coconuts and Brrr.
