After weeks of topping the charts with Sam Smith on 'Unholy'.
Kim Petras has announced that she will release a new single entitled If Jesus Was A Rockstar next week.
The single will follow the month-long domination of her collaboration, Unholy, with Sam Smith, which sat atop the ARIA Singles chart for four weeks before Taylor Swift's Midnights release.
If Jesus Was A Rockstar was initially teased last month, with Petras revealing that a snippet of the song was available as a sound on TikTok and encouraging her fans to do a blind reaction using the sound clip.
Unholy debuted at #1 in Australia at the beginning of the month; it was the fifth duet of 2022 to hit the top. The song was the second #1 single for Sam Smith after their September 18th, 2017, two-week run with Too Good at Goodbyes from just over five years ago, giving them now three overall weeks at #1 in Australia. Meanwhile, for Kim Petras, the song was her first entry, first Top 10 and also her first #1 single.
The song made history: It was the first time at #1 for Sam Smith as a non-binary artist, plus as Kim Petras is transgender, it's the first time for a trans artist to take the #1 spot in Australia. Unholy became the 217th chart-topping song by a British Act for Smith, while Petras became the first-ever solo German Female Artist to hit #1 in Australia.
Kim Petras last performed in Australia in 2019, with an appearance at the Sydney Mardi Gras Party as well as shows at Sydney's The Lair and Melbourne's Northcote Social Club.

"I can't wait to finally get out to Australia," she shared. "I've always wanted to head over to check out the Sydney Mardi Gras. Performing two shows while I'm in the country is another huge plus!"
