More Kesha More Kesha

Kesha is officially a free woman, having parted ways with her former label and management earlier this month – and to celebrate, she’s taken herself to the beach.

Back in June of this year, Kesha settled the litany of legal dramas she’d long been entwined in with her former producer, Dr. Luke (who she’d repeatedly accused of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, among other reprehensible actions). Now, after another six months of fighting, she’s been released from her contract with Luke’s RCA-distributed label, Kemosabe Records (as reported by Variety).

Kesha also parted ways with Vector Management – severing a partnership that had run for 16 years – however this didn’t come on bad terms. In a statement addressing her exit, she wrote: “My manager has been an unwavering supporter of helping me get through the lengthy legal battle I have been embroiled in for almost a decade. We have achieved many great successes and have shared a magnificent part of my life with me. I am so grateful to them and always will be. In need of a fresh start in my life, we have parted ways but I will remain forever grateful for the run we had.”

Celebrating her freedom, Kesha took to social media with a photo of her standing nude in a lake, looking over an idyllic landscape. “Coming back home to me,” she captioned the snap. Once again embracing nature, she also shared a TikTok of herself jogging happily into the waves at a beach, embossing her video with the phrase, “I haven’t felt this free since I was 18.”

As of now, it’s unclear what the future holds for Kesha. She released her fifth studio album, Gag Order, back in May to widespread acclaim, with many critics pointing out how empowered and raw her lyrics are. In support of the album, she embarked on a North American tour – dubbed the Only Love tour – that ended in November.
