Keith Urban Announces One-Off Sydney Show Of 'Music & Conversation'

One of New Zealand and Australia’s most successful exports, Keith Urban, is finally coming home, announcing a one-off show to take place in Sydney next month.

The surprise show is in support of his forthcoming album, High, which will be released on Friday, 20 September, via EMI.

On Tuesday, 3 September—less than three weeks away—Urban will perform and participate in an intimate chat (and likely pretty funny, considering the host’s reputation) conversation called Ridin’ High hosted by The Betoota Advocate at The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre in Marrickville, Sydney.

In addition to the fun of music and conversation, fans can try to win raffle prizes, with all raffle proceeds going to Landcare Australia.

In case you’re unfamiliar, The Betoota Advocate has made a name for itself with its satirical and sometimes hard-hitting journalism. Editor Clancy Coverell said of hosting the event and interviewing Keith Urban, “The Betoota Advocate takes great pride in playing host to Keith Urban’s homecoming performance.

“Our newspaper has been following Keith’s meteoric rise through the international country music scene since his early years on the Caboolture pub circuit. We have been playing his new album in the newsroom, and the general consensus amongst our staff is that he’s still got it.”

In June, Urban revealed that his new album, High, was born out of a “prior record,” with Urban scrapping a previous project he found “musically limiting” in 2022 and going somewhere different.

On Instagram, he added, “This album is the result of a prior record I started in 2022. It’s 40 minutes top to bottom, and is completely expressive, true, honest and is so much more of what I actually wanted to say when making that scrapped record. I hope these songs bring you joy, levity, some new understanding, energy, and escape!”
