Just as we were enjoying a bit of peace and quiet, it was today (July 31) revealed that Twitter has reinstated the account of the ever-controversial Kanye West.
ICYMI: In December, Ye was suspended from Twitter for incitement of violence following a string of antisemitic tweets. Earlier that week, Ye also appeared on Alex Jones's InfoWars, where he explicitly and repeatedly affirmed his admiration for Hitler and denied that the holocaust ever happened.
Eight months later, the Flashing Lights rapper has made a return to the platform (which has since been rebranded as X) - though the Wall Street Journal reported that Ye would not be able to monetise his account – a function introduced earlier this year by which people can subscribe to certain accounts.
Ye’s account was reinstated after X reportedly received assurances that he share antisemitic or harmful comments. Given that Kanye declared he “likes Jewish people again” after watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street, we can only hope the rapper sticks to his word.
Prior to his ban last year, Musk was forced to delete a slew of Ye’s posts, one of which included a swastika, and lead to a 12-hour suspension on the rapper's Twitter account.
Ye reacted to his suspension by sharing a text message sent to him by Musk, who wrote, "Sorry, but you have gone too far. This is not love." He then posted a shirtless photo of the Twitter CEO and billionaire, declaring the post "my final tweet."

One Twitter user pleaded with Musk to "fix Kanye please", to which he responded, "I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended."
Kanye West has yet to tweet following his ban being lifted, though his previous tweets from December 2 and further back are now able to be seen again.
His most recent tweet was posted on December 2 last year, where he called out his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and NBA star Chris Paul.
“Let’s break one last window before we get outa here. I caught this guy with Kim. Good night,” the rapper tweeted at the time.
