Jon Stevens Released From Hospital After Heart Scare

Noiseworks singer Jon Stevens has had a harrowing few weeks with a routine heart check leaving him in hospital for surgery. As a previous survivor of heart disease and open heart surgery, Stevens is a long-time ambassador for the Heart Foundation and his check up last week may well have saved his life. 

In a Facebook post, Steven said "I took the Heart Foundation's advice as part of Give With Heart Day and went for my annual Heart Health check-up. During the appointment my Doctor identified an issue that resulted in me spending two nights in hospital and having an operation called an angiogram. I now have a stent to stem the narrowing of my arteries, and I'm so glad I followed my own advice as Heart Foundation ambassador!"

It was just two weeks previous that Stevens urged fans to take a check up (which is now bulk billed to make it even more accessible to everyone).

It seems that all roads lead to the heart of late for Stevens, who last month released the first new single for his band Noiseworks in thirty years, Heart and Soul. The song has been a big radio hit with Triple M spinning it nationally and putting the band back into the national consciousness and more importantly, back on the road. Stevens will have another month to recover before hitting the stage for a string of Noiseworks shows across November with Suzi Quatro. 

Noiseworks is one of Australia's best-loved rock acts, with their albums Noiseworks, Touch and Love Versus Money all reaching the Australian top ten and spawning a dozen top fifty singles. After calling it a day in 1992, Stevens kicked off a stunning solo career with a run as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar before resuming a strong run of ten album releases over the coming years. He was also a regular on TV including hosting the ill-fated Network Ten reality show The Resort. In 2000 Stevens joined Inxs, replacing Michael Hutchence, touring with the band for three years before quitting to get back to his solo career. 

Inxs wasn't his only move back into band territory, forming The Dead Daisies in 2012 and then re-forming Noiseworks in 2016. The band have been touring ever since, with a brand new album slated for release soon.
