The legendary alt-rock outfit will perform a handful of shows around the country this August
New York-bred rock veterans the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion have announced a handful of Australian tour dates this August in celebration of brand new studio full-length Freedom Tower — No Wave Dance Party 2015, their first such new release since 2012's Meat + Bone.
No strangers to Australia over the course of their almost-25-year-strong career together, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion will return Down Under from Thursday, 6 August, when they'll get their antipodean sojourn under way at The Zoo, in Brisbane. From there, they move down to Sydney Uni's Manning Bar on Friday, 7 August, the Supersense Festival at Melbourne Arts Centre on Saturday, 8 August, Hobart's Republic Bar on Sunday, 9 August, and wind up the trip over on the west coast in Perth, at the Rosemount Hotel, on Tuesday, 11 August.
With previous Aussie visits taking in spots at high-profile appearances at Golden Plains, Sydney Festival, MOFO and the odd Dinosaur Jr double bill, we can expect a similar air of distinction extending beyond the band's forthcoming headline slot at Supersense to their standalone shows on the road, where — at the Brisbane and Sydney iterations, anyway — they'll be joined by Queensland-bred gutter punks HITS.
Tickets for all shows on Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's 2015 Australian tour will go on sale this Friday, 5 June, via several outlets. For a full rundown of dates, venues and booking information, see theGuide or check The Music App.
