The riveting documentary about one of Australia’s most powerful singers, John Farnham: Finding The Voice, took home an award at the Logies last night (18 August).
Winning the award for Best Factual or Documentary Program, Finding The Voice prevailed over Hot Potato: The Story Of The Wiggles, Matildas: The World At Our Feet, Nemesis, Revealed: Ben Roberts-Smith Truth On Trial, and War On Waste.
Elsewhere, Bluey took home the Logie for Best Children’s Program, and Boy Swallows Universe won five awards out of its ten nominations.
Meanwhile, other music-related programs, such as A Silver Lining: Silverchair on Australian Story (nominated for Best News Coverage or Public Affairs Report), Take 5 With Zan Rowe, and Australian Idol, didn’t take home awards.
The Silverchair Australian Story was a runner-up to Ben Roberts-Smith: The Truth, 60 Minutes, while Take 5 With Zan Rowe and Australian Idol lost the Best Entertainment Program award to The Voice Australia.
While the Farnham documentary won an award, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy also paid tribute to the legendary singer. Sebastian performed Burn For You with a choir and band, and Mauboy led a duet of You’re The Voice.

Farnham wasn’t in attendance at last night’s award ceremony, so some of the people closest to him, including his sons, Rob and James, Gaynor Wheatley, and the documentary’s director, Poppy Stockell, accepted the award.
On Sunrise last week, Farnham’s sons confirmed that their dad remains in remission and recovery from cancer.
In April, Hachette Australia and Talentworks announced the release of Farnham’s debut memoir, The Voice Inside.
The book will explore his upbringing in Melbourne in the ‘60s, his release of the highest-selling Australian album of all time (Whispering Jack), his decades-long touring career, and his story of resilience.
In addition to the successes, Farnham is set to examine the darkness: the years in which his career stalled, facing debts, triumphing through adversity, being diagnosed with mouth cancer, and moving forward after the heartbreaking loss of his long-time friend and manager Glenn Wheatley.
