Jesse Hughes Apologises For Pro-gun Rant: 'I Messed Up'

Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes has issued an apology for controversial comments he made about last month's March For Our Lives protest.
The singer slammed the victims as "pathetic" in a series of now-deleted posts, which garnered a wave of criticism online, including Eagles Of Death Metal fans.
Hughes issued an apology in a video posted to his Instagram.
"What I had intended to be a statement about the hijacking by any side of the aisle of the beautiful agenda of a movement of our nation's youth came off seeming like a mean-spirited personal attack and slight of the youth themselves, and even a personal attack of its leadership," Hughes said.

He continued, "I truly am sorry. I did not mean to hurt anyone or cause any harm. As someone who's watched their friends shot in front of their eyes and seen people killed that they love, I should have handled this a lot more maturely and responsibly and I did not do that and I messed up.”
"I hope that you're able to forgive me, but please know that I did not mean to do what it seems like it was I was doing."

It comes after other public figures made controversial comments about the Parkland shooting including Fox News host, Laura Ingraham, actor Frank Stallone and US artist Ted Nugent.
While Ingraham and Stallone have apologised in recent days, Nugent has stood by his remarks in which he called survivors "liars" and "soulless".
